Public schools across Georgia are evaluated every year on whether they meet federally mandated academic standards. The government calls it "Adequate Yearly Progress." Schools face increasing penalties based on how many years they miss the mark. They also continue to face penalties until they make AYP for two consecutive years. These are the schools in metro Atlanta's core counties that either did not make AYP or need to make it one more year:
