The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Sunday, October 12, 2008

Ina F. Collins started styling hair as a teenager in East Georgia and spent decades in the beauty business.

The striking redhead moved to Atlanta after high school and married John F. Collins. She soon started running her own beauty salons, including a very large salon at Toco Hills Shopping Center, Mr. Collins said.

She also operated salons on Los Angeles Avenue and at Thomas Courts Motel on North Decatur Road, her husband of 63 years said.

Mrs. Collins, 81, of Stone Mountain died Oct. 4 of congestive heart failure and pneumonia. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. today in the chapel at A.S. Turner & Sons in Decatur. The body has been cremated.

Other survivors include a son, Robert Wesley Collins of Loganville; brother Charles F. Fouche of Eatonton; and sister Lena Fouche of Stone Mountain.
