Victim identified in fatal home invasion

Police have identified the deceased victim of a Gwinnett County home invasion Tuesday as Maximo Antonio Medina-Hernandez, 39, of Norcross.

Medina-Hernandez was killed from a gunshot wound in an apparent robbery attempt of Apartment 3 in Building AA of the Villa Nueva Apartments in the 6200 block of S. Norcross-Tucker Road. Jose Melendez of Norcross was also injured after being pistol-whipped by the assailants. The suspects, two black males, remain at large.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate and are asking for help from the public. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Homicide Unit at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Anonymous tips are welcome and could lead to a monetary reward of up to $2,000.
