Forsyth to delay voting on high-end mall

Forsyth County officials are expected to postpone voting tonight on a development agreement critical to plans for a regional, high-end mall on the county’s southside.
The agreement is on the County Commission’s agenda for tonight, but is expected to be tabled to allow for additional review, sources said.
Taubman Centers Inc. has plans for a massive development at Ga. 400 and McFarland Road that would include hotels, Class A office space, high-end housing and a mall anchored by upscale department stores, such as Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus.
The county has already approved a zoning overlay district for the project and has obtained an easement from the company so it can extend Ronald Reagan Boulevard to the mall site.
The last big hurdle is approval of the development agreement, which spells out the obligations of both the county and company and establishes timetables for the project.
