A proposed apartment complex in Sandy Springs is small enough that it doesn't warrant review by regional planners and now will be considered by city officials, it was announced Thursday.
Patrice Ruffin, a planner with Sandy Springs, said Thursday the city is continuing its evaluation of the proposed Southern Trace Apartments, at 5320 Roswell Road. The development would provide 238 apartments and 5,000 square feet of retail space, city records show.

The Atlanta Regional Commission ruled Monday that the project is not a development of regional impact. That means that ARC planners will not issue an advisory opinion on the impact the development would have on traffic, sewer and other regional concerns.
If it's approved and built, the project would open in March 2010, records show. The developer is Atlantic Realty Partners, Inc. Another project the company is developing in North Fulton is Johns Creek Walk, a mixed use community being built at the intersection of Abbotts Bridge and Medlock Bridge roads.
