Milton Round-Up short on volunteers

Milton project coordinator Linda Blow is trying to corral volunteers for the Milton Round-Up scheduled this September.

Last year, the fall festival had many volunteers for its inaugural party, which by all accounts was a resounding success with more than 3,000 people attending. But this year, people have been slow to offer their help, and Blow can't figure out why.

"Some people wrote me and said they couldn't do it this year," Blow said. "They may have backed out for personal reasons or they had other things on their plate. It could be the economy. I hope it isn't that people aren't interested. We had such a wonderful turnout for last year — hoping for the same and more this year."

Last year, about a dozen folks committed to making the event happen. Currently, Blow has half that number.

The community party will have equestrian rides, chili competition, face-painting, kids games and other events.

The volunteers meet about every two weeks, she said.

For more information, Blow can be reached at 678-242-2489 or at www.cityofmiltonga.us.
