Many Northside residents will never be able to travel to Washington D.C. to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall with the names of 58,000 American dead inscribed on black granite.
So, the wall, or at least a three-quarters-sized replica will come to them.

Called the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall, the traveling replica will pause for three days in Roswell over the July 4 weekend at Green Lawn Cemetery. Groundbreaking in preparation for the wall's arrival was Friday.
"I think it's a very moving experience to people who had friends and relatives killed or missing, especially if they don't have the opportunity to visit the wall," said Tony Papel of Roswell Funeral Home, which is arranging the wall stop in Roswell.
Roswell Funeral Home and Green Lawn Cemetery are soliciting and organizing volunteer and civic organizations to help with the details involved in setting up the wall, and helping people find names when they visit. The first volunteer meeting is June 4 at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Dignity Memorial Network, an organization of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers, created the memorial in 1990. It is 240 feet long and eight feet high.
The replica, which has been displayed in more than 200 cities, will be open to the public 24 hours a day from July 4 to July 6,
