Sandy Springs is inviting developers to submit proposals for mixed-use projects that could include a new municipal complex as an anchor tenant.
The two-year-old city is using leased space at several locations in Sandy Springs to house its police department, municipal court and city hall. City officials want a permanent home for all government functions in one site, ideally as part of a so-called "mixed-use" development that could also include restaurants, offices or retail shops.

City Manager John McDonough received their permission to solicit proposals from developers, who might have locations in mind. The deadline will be 120 days. Initially, McDonough requested a deadline of mid-May.
Council members said they wanted to give developers more time to respond, including to line up properties if they need to do so.
"I'd rather we have a process that's right, not rushed," said Councilman Tibby DeJulio.
