An argument ensued, Gwinnett police Cpl. David Schiralli said, and one of the men pulled a gun and shot Ford.

The wounded man went inside, retrieved a gun and came back out to the driveway firing, Schiralli said.

He shot 19-year-old Deontae Kimber multiple times as Kimber fired back, police said. Kimber was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ford was treated at a hospital for his gunshot wound, released, and taken into custody. He is being held without bond on a murder charge at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

Police said they did not know what started the argument that led to the shootout.
