Cop arrested after using stun gun on Waffle House worker

Incident happened in February; officer resigned this week

A former Gwinnett County police officer has been arrested after he apparently used a stun gun on a Waffle House employee, according to police.

Gary Miles Jr., 33, is accused of going into the diner in Loganville in February while on duty, according to David Schiralli, Gwinnett police spokesman. The use of a stun gun on the restaurant employee apparently was “without provocation.”

Miles, a six-year veteran of the force, resigned from his position earlier this week.

He has been charged with one count of battery and one count of violation of oath of office by a public officer. Miles surrendered to investigators without incident and was transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center, according to Schiralli.
