On Monday, Gwinnett police identified a motorcyclist killed Friday afternoon near Lawrenceville Highway.
Lloyd Daniels, 36, of Lawrenceville died about 3 p.m. Friday when his black 2002 Suzuki motorcycle left Ronald Reagan Parkway and slammed into a guardrail just as he was approaching Lawrenceville Highway in a westbound lane.
In a second fatal motorcycle wreck from the weekend, an 18-year-old Lilburn man was killed early Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Bethesda School Road, police said.
The initial investigation suggests Stephan Ash was driving his 1996 Honda CBR600F motorcycle at a high rate of speed, southbound on Lawrenceville Highway, when he ran a red light, according to a news release.
Ash collided with a 2000 GMC Jimmy that Adam Mercer was driving. Mercer, 30, of Duluth, was uninjured.
Gwinnett police said while it appears Ash was at fault, an investigation was continuing.
