Property tax deadline is Sept. 15
Friday, September 05, 2008
The clock is ticking on Gwinnett taxpayers, who have just over one week to make their first installment for 2008 property taxes.
“So far, we have collected 8.72 percent of our total tax base, which the property tax director says is typical of this time of year,” said Paula Martin, business service manager in the Tax Commissioner’s Office.
Lines at the office, Martin said, have been steady, “but not stretching out the door.”
“People do procrastinate,” she said. “As the deadline approaches, things will get busier.”
First installment county property taxes are due Sept. 15. Late payments result in a penalty of 5 percent of the installment amount.
Payments can be made by phone by calling TaxTalk24 at 770-822-8800; by mail by sending payments to: Tax
Commissioner’s Office, 57 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30045; or you can pay in person at the tax office in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville or at any of the five Gwinnett County tag offices.
