Man held in alleged scheme to cheat Alzheimer’s patients

A Buford man wanted for allegedly scheming to cheat six elderly Alzheimer’s patients at a local nursing home, has been arrested, Gwinnett County police announced Wednesday.
Jose Luis Ciuro was apprehended Tuesday night by members of the police crime suppression unit.
Ciuro, 44, has been charged with six counts of financial identity fraud. He is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center with a $67,200 bond.
Along with Iniabel Ferrer, 36, also of Buford, Ciuro is accused of obtaining personal and medical information from aging victims at Brookside Assisted Living in Buford.
Police said another woman contacted authorities several weeks ago, saying that Ferrer and Ciuro had asked her to use her computer skills to help them steal money from the victim’s bank accounts. On Aug. 8, officer found documents containing information of six nursing home residents in Ferrer’s and Ciuro’s possession. Nursing home management said the couple did not have permission or reason to access patient information.
Ferrer was arrested at the nursing home Aug. 13. She is in jail, held on a $68,400 bond.
