A Lilburn woman was in jail Tuesday for allegedly lying to police to cover up a tryst with her lover after the pair was discovered by her husband.

The husband of Paula Del Carmen Flores-Aulis, 40, apparently interrupted a private moment between his wife and another man when he walked into the bedroom about 7 a.m. Monday, according to Lilburn police detective Kim Banks.

Upon sighting the husband, the lover jumped out of a bedroom window. Flores-Aulis claimed that the man broke into the home and tried to sexually assault her, Banks said.

Lilburn police who arrived to investigate found the suspect's car still in the driveway.

"The hood was cold to the touch, so at that point we thought something was a little strange," Banks said.

About 30 minutes later, while officers were still on the scene, a friend of the wife's paramour came back to fetch the car. Police contacted the suspect, who soon spilled the beans about his encounter with Flores-Aulis.

"This guy was frightened number one because her husband came home and found him there, and number two because he was accused of being a home invasion suspect," Banks said.

The suspect told police he was no stranger to the wife — the two had even eaten breakfast together at a Waffle House earlier that morning. Banks said Waffle House employees confirmed the lover's account.

Flores-Aulis was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of making false report of a crime. She is being held on $1,300 bond at the Gwinnett jail. As of Tuesday afternoon, her husband had not posted bail.
