If the tax is approved, Grayson's share would total about $1.9 million, said City Administrator Laura Paul-Cone.
City leaders decided the majority of the money, more than $765,000, would be spent to expand its small City Hall, she said.
That's 40 percent of Grayson's portion of the special tax.
"We're thinking long term and we will run out of space," Mayor Jim Hinkle said. Grayson's population is about 3,000.
Along with more office space, Hinkle said he'd like to see an actual City Council chambers.
Currently, the council crowds around a small table in a conference room during its public meetings.
"Two council members have to sit with their backs to the audience," the mayor said.
When a controversial issue draws a large crowd, the meeting has to move across the street to the senior center.
The city would like to spend about $670,000, which is 35 percent of the money, to expand Grayson City Park, add sidewalks and more lights, the mayor said.
The rest of the tax money, 25 percent, would be used to maintain streets and roads, the city administrator said.
