Crews found a kitchen fire that was already out on arrival, according to a news release. The fire was contained to the stove and was extinguished by the sprinkler system.
Two occupants a father and son were both transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville with non-life threatening injuries, the release said. The father sustained an injury from exposure to heat after trying to remove the burning pan from the stove. The son, 14, was transported due to minor exposure to smoke. Both were conscious and alert at the scene, according to firefighters.
The blaze appears accidental and was caused by a grease fire on the stove. The fire caused minor damage to the kitchen and sent light smoke throughout the single-apartment unit.
