U.S. Postal Service spokesman Michael Miles said a mail carrier noticed an unknown powder in the bottom of a tub and called police.

“We see these kinds of things and they’ve fortunately always turned out to be nothing, but we train our employees to be cautious,” Miles said.

Miles said the substance was not attached to a particular piece of mail.

A postal inspector was on his way to Peachtree City to assist in the investigation Friday afternoon, he said.
