Pedestrian hit on I-285

A predawn pedestrian accident shut down most eastbound lanes of the top-end Perimeter during Monday’s morning commute.

DeKalb County police dispatchers said a person was hit by a vehicle just before 6:30 a.m. on I-285 eastbound before Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. All lanes were open by 7 a.m.

The injured person’s condition was not immediately available. Dispatchers did not know why the person was walking on the interstate.

Five eastbound lanes of I-285 were blocked while police investigated the incident and traffic quickly backed up to beyond Ashford Dunwoody Road.

Westbound lanes were not affected.
