An autopsy was planned Monday to determine the identity and cause of death of a man whose body was found Sunday night inside a burning building behind a south DeKalb County home.
DeKalb fire dispatchers said the fire was reported about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of Casa Loma Drive, in a neighborhood off Kelly Chapel Road.
A small guest house behind the main home was “burning substantially” when firefighters arrived, and the man’s body was found as crews doused the fire, DeKalb fire Capt. Eric Jackson said.
Jackson said the victim had apparently been renting the guest house from the homeowners, who called 911 to report the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, Jackson said Monday.
