Lithonia City Council meets Monday

Lithonia City Council meets in voting session Monday for the first time since voters ousted the mayor last week.

The council may make a decision on hiring a building permit company to help with new applications. Mayor Pro Tem Tonya Peterson will preside.

Peterson is acting mayor until Nov. 18, when city voters return to the polls to decide who will replace Mayor Joyce McKibben, who was removed from office on Tuesday. McKibben has vowed to run again in the special election. No other candidates have announced their intent to run.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the city’s police station on Main Street.
