The long-time International Farmer’s Market in Chamblee has closed, and the owners are dismantling the store.
Earlier this month, workers removed copper pipes from the interior and stacked them inside the market. A thief later broke in and stole the pipes, according to a Chamblee Police report.
The owners of the five-acre property could not be reached for comment.
Chamblee Development Director Dan Schultz said the owners are actively marketing the property, which is near the city’s downtown and across from Wal-Mart at the corner of Peachtree Boulevard and Chamblee Tucker Road. The property is zoned for residential and commercial use and can accommodate a development of between 200,000 and 500,000 square feet, Schultz said. The county has appraised the property at about $3 million.
