A man whom police say was shot to death Saturday morning while trying to steal a vehicle from a southeast Atlanta gas station parking lot has been identified as Arthur Dansby, 22, of Atlanta, authorities said.
Dansby tried to steal a vehicle while a man, Alex Nunes, was sitting in the passenger seat, Atlanta police spokesman Ron Campbell said.
Nunes’ acquaintance, identified by police as Nickolaus Lambrou, had gone inside a gas station store where the car was parked, located at 2315 Glenwood Ave., Campbell said.
Dansby, who was unarmed, jumped into the car, and Nunes grabbed a gun that was in the back seat and shot him, Campbell said.
Dansby got out and ran, but he collapsed and died near an apartment complex less than a half-mile away, Campbell said.
The incident was reported at 7:20 a.m.
Campbell said that Nunes has not been arrested or charged with any crimes, but the police department is still investigating the shooting.
