DeVry University is moving out of its 22-acre campus just north of Decatur and is preparing to sell the property.

The university plans to meet Monday night with neighbors who live near the site "and start the conversation at looking at [how] the property should be developed," said Woodson Galloway, an attorney working for Devry.

"DeVry is moving, and so they are trying to evaluate what to do with their real estate," Galloway said.

DeVry has not yet filed with DeKalb County to rezone the property, which is now zoned industrial, he said.

The property is not far from the DeKalb Farmers Market and the Avondale MARTA station, bordering a residential neighborhood on one side and a commercial district on the other.

DeVry, a national, for-profit school that offers career-oriented courses, is downsizing and moving into new classroom space in downtown Decatur. With students able to do more of their course work online, the school no longer needs the amount of space it has at its current campus.

DeVry "has a big piece of property that's zoned industrial, and that may not be the best use of the property," Galloway said.

The meeting is scheduled to take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the DeVry campus, 250 N. Arcadia Ave. in unincorporated DeKalb.

DeVry has six other locations around the metro Atlanta area.
