"A passer-by was driving past the lake, and saw something floating," fire department spokesman Capt. Eric Jackson said.

"She parked her car, went to the fence line and said she saw ... a body."

Members of DeKalb's dive rescue team suited up in SCUBA gear and swam out to the retrieve the body, Jackson said.

The body was brought to shore around 8:45 p.m., he said.

Emergency officials weren't able to identify the individual, and Jackson couldn't provide even the gender.

"It's all under investigation," he said, saying the body had been turned over to the Medical Examiner's office. "Police more than likely will be involved to make sure there is no foul play."
