Several civic groups are holding a potluck breakfast in Lithonia tomorrow, in a bid to bring the often fractious community together.
The beleaguered DeKalb County city has teetered on the edge of bankruptcy in recent years and endured a power struggle between the mayor and city council since earlier this year.

But a handful of groups hope that breaking bread at the Lithonia's Women's Club will help push the city forward as it tries to tackle its financial and political future.
"It's about coming together as a community," said attorney Deborah Jackson, who helped organize the meal with members of the Granite Cornerstones, the Friends of Lithonia African-American Cemetery, the civic league and the city's business association.
The public is welcome at the breakfast, which runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the women's club, 2570 Wiggins St.
