The DeKalb County police department is inviting the public to a "block party" Saturday near Lithonia.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store at 5401 Fairington Road. Residents will have a chance to meet their neighborhood interactive community policing officers and see a mobile precinct and police helicopter.

The department plans similar events in other parts of the county this summer.
