Keep DeKalb Beautiful and the DeKalb County Public Works Department are sponsoring a recycling drive for electronic equipment Saturday at two drop off locations.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents can turn in their unwanted electronics including floppy disks, circuit boards, typewriters, CD ROMS, cables, eight tracks, video players, scanners, speakers, keyboards, can openers, camcorders, cameras and toasters.

Residents can also turn in televisions, but at a $10 charge.

The idea behind the drive is to divert what the county calls potentially hazardous materials away from the Seminole Landfill.

The two drop-off locations are: the DeKalb Tax Commissioner's office, which is at 4380 Memorial Drive; and Liane Levetan Park at Brook Run, which is at 4770 Peachtree Road.

The recycling effort was a big success last year when Keep DeKalb Beautiful reports it collected more than 192,000 pounds of electronic equipment.

More information about the recycling effort, including what items are being accepted and how people can volunteer to help, can be obtained by calling Keep DeKalb Beautiful at 404-371-2654.
