Agnes Scott's new $6M church opens

Agnes Scott College will unveil the first free-standing chapel in its history in a ceremony this afternoon.

The $6 million Julia Thompson Smith Chapel will be blessed in a multi-faith ceremony at 2 p.m. on the college green, as part of the college's alumnae weekend events.

Although affiliated with Presbyterian Church USA, the 900-student women's college has never had its own chapel. In the recent past, the college used an auditorium in Presser Hall for worship and services.
