DeKalb homebuyers must now put low-flow toilets in older properties

DeKalb County commissioners voted Tuesday to require buyers of older properties in the county to install new water-saving toilets and faucets.

New owners who fail to do so will be unable to establish water service in their names.

The "low-flow" proposal was opposed by real estate agents and was repeatedly deferred by the commission after Chief Executive Officer Vernon Jones proposed it last fall.
