The proposal that would allow Dunwoody residents to vote on creating their own city is slated for a vote Tuesday in a legislative committee at the state Capitol.
Also Tuesday, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners may vote on its own proposal that would affect Dunwoody. Some commissioners are considering a proposal to withhold $1.2 million this year from the Perimeter Community Improvement District.

The district would become part of Dunwoody and thus is not eligible to receive the $1.2 million under current agreements over how the penny sales tax collected under the HOST program is spent.
The House Governmental Affairs Committee has the Dunwoody proposal on its agenda for a 4 p.m. meeting. The bill calls for Dunwoody residents to vote Sept. 16 on a referendum to create a city of Dunwoody.
Advocates of the proposed city have worked hard since Jan. 31, when the same House committee tabled the bill and sent a signal that Senate Bill 82 was dead for the year. Advocates prevailed upon the committee to reconsider.
The exact procedure they used to resurrect the bill was not clear Monday morning.
Opponents have worked hard to raise questions about how much the proposed city would cost its residents. Several reports have been created and distributed that opponents say show the city will cost taxpayers more than the advocates predict.
