Marietta woman dies of injuries sustained in Peach County crash

A Marietta woman was taken off life support and died of injuries sustained in a car crash that killed her 15-year-old son five days earlier.

Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks confirmed Saturday that Jeannette Prather, 51, had been pronounced dead Friday at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Michael Prather, 49, and Stephen Prather, 18, were not seriously injured in the Monday afternoon accident.

The family was traveling in a 2001 Toyota Sienna when one of the tires blew. Michael Prather lost control of the minivan as he tried to pull onto the shoulder of Interstate 75 in Peach County.

Police said all four family members were wearing seatbelts.
