Shooting victim taught at Chattahoochee Tech

The man fatally shot outside his Smyrna home early Sunday has been identified as Chattahoochee Technical College instructor Joseph Gunn.

Gunn, who was 54, taught in the automotive technology department since 2004.

WSB-TV reported that detectives believe Gunn heard or saw thieves breaking into his truck, and went outside to investigate. The shooting happened around 3 a.m. in the 1700 block of Highlands View Drive.

Gunn died later at Grady Memorial Hospital.
