A former employee at the Veterans hospital in DeKalb is accused of stealing four BlackBerry phones and racking up $10,355 worth of charges.
Cynthia Rena McGhee, 47, of Austell was arrested Monday evening at her home, according to Cobb County jail records. She was released Tuesday on $15,000 bond.
The four BlackBerrys totaling more than $500 were reportedly stolen in September 2007, according to the arrest warrant. McGhee used either the phones or the SIM cards from the phones for her personal use, according to police.
Approximately $10,335 worth of cellphone charges were billed to the hospital, which paid the bills on the stolen phones, according to the warrant.
An investigator with the Atlanta Office of the Inspector General began an investigation into the thefts on Feb. 2 of this year.
The phones have not been located, according to police. McGhee had three SIM cards in her possession at the time of her arrest.
