Mom allegedly tried to cover up fatal hit-run

Cobb County police say Maria Isabel Pacheco Agullon tried to report her son’s vehicle stolen when she learned he was allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Marietta.

Agullon, 46, was arrested after trying to hide her son’s involvement and misleading investigators, police said. She was charged with false report of a crime and obstruction of law enforcement.

Jonathan Pacheco Corona, 24, of Marietta was the driver of the 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette in the incident, which occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Sandtown Road north of Osborne Road, police said. He was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, felony hit and run and driving without a license.

Police on Monday identified the victim as J. Dolores Zuniga, 49, of Marietta.

Zuniga was walking in or near a southbound lane when struck by Corona’s vehicle, police said. “The driver of the Oldsmobile failed to stop, render aid or provide information and continued southbound on Sandtown Road.”
