A Marietta man is accused of taking a used pickup truck for a test drive Monday afternoon, then not coming back.
Angel Andres Cruz, 27, then led police on a chase before jumping out of the 2003 Nissan Frontier, according to an arrest warrant.
Cruz presented a fraudulent Alabama driver’s license to a car dealer on South Cobb Drive, according to Smyrna police. Once behind the wheel, Cruz fled the lot and led police on an erratic chase before he was arrested on Atlanta Road nearly an hour after the incident began.
He is accused of running three stop signs on Dixie Avenue, driving in the wrong lane and driving more than 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to the warrant. Cruz apparently jumped out of the truck while it was still moving as police chased him.
Cruz had the fake license with him at the time of the arrest, according to the warrant. He faces three felony charges for identity fraud, forgery and stealing a motor vehicle, along with several less charges.
He remained in the Cobb County jail late Tuesday afternoon.
