Elvis entered the building at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw on Friday. Then he showed off his moves on the dance floor.
Devon Ragin, 7, isn’t really the King, but he may have felt like one at a dance for elementary students with special needs.
About 100 students from seven elementary schools followed the red carpet into the high school gym for a morning filled with music and fun. Nearby Northstar Church and Acworth’s parks and recreation department also helped with the dance.
Though the dance was for the younger students, 100 high school students and several teachers also hit the floor for everything from the limbo to the electric slide.
A teacher apprentice class and other North Cobb students leaders and athletes helped host the dance. Sophomore Desiree Shear was wowed with the younger kids’ moves. “They danced better than me,” she said.
Terrell Roberts, a senior football star, said regardless of what the young students deal with on a daily basis, the music brought laughter and fun.
“They’re kids and they’re happy — it’s all the same,” he said.
