Forest Park police and federal agents are investigating the theft of at least three semi-automatic rifles from a local gun shop early Wednesday morning.
Maj. Chris Matson said police responded to a burglar alarm shortly after midnight at Georgia Range and Guns in the 200 block of Lake Mirror Road. Officers arriving within two minutes found the front window and burglar bars of the store had been forced open. The store is close to the intersection of I-75 and I-285 in north Clayton County.
Store surveillance cameras caught the burglary and tapes show two suspects entering the store and stealing at least four weapons, including three semi-automatic rifles and one small caliber rifle, Matson said. Police investigators are checking into vehicles seen leaving the area as officers responded to the alarm, he said.
Matson said agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation.
Anyone have information about this burglary should contact the Forest Park Police Department at 404-366-4141.
