Brother rescues Jonesboro man from fire

A 36-year-old Jonesboro man was in critical but stable condition Sunday in Southern Regional Hospital after being pulled from his burning house by his brother, authorities said.

Clayton County police said David Fears was lying on the ground, unconscious but breathing, when they arrived at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at the burning home at 2046 Cooper Way.

Matthew Daniel Fears told police he lives with his brother and saw that their house was on fire when he arrived home from work, according to reports. Fears said he saw his brother lying on the floor behind the door and pulled him out.

Investigators said the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen.
