Jonesboro man charged after deadly crash
Michael Wesley Greene, 18, injured, but faces vehicular homicide charge

A Jonesboro man faces charges after police said he caused a crash early Saturday morning that killed his passenger.

Michael Wesley Greene, 18, remains at Southern Regional Medical Center being treated for non-life threatening injuries he suffered in the crash, Clayton County police Capt. Greg Dickens said.

He is charged with second degree vehicular homicide, failure to maintain lane and driving too fast for conditions, police said.

Greene was driving his father's 1991 Jaguar along Lake Jodeco Road about 4:10 a.m. Saturday when he lost control in a curve near Lago Drive, Dickens said.

His passenger, Tracey Louis Smith, 19, of Hampton was unrestrained and ejected from the car when it hit a tree, police said. Smith was dead at the scene.

Greene will be arrested upon his release from the hospital, police said.
