Bear hit by car in Cherokee

A bear was struck by a car near I-575 northbound at Sixes Road, according to Bryan Gunter with the state Department of Transportation.
The bear then ran into nearby woods. The condition of the bear is unknown.
One lane of I-575 was closed briefly, according to the DOT.
Earlier this month, at least two bear sightings were reported in the northern suburbs.
Acworth resident George Graham spotted a black bear near his home, near Lake Allatoona. Graham used a surveillance camera at the home to capture video of the bear.
A Kennesaw State University police officer was hit by a car while searching for a bear that had been seen near the school’s Cobb County campus. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.
