Strip club shooting suspect arrested in Atlanta

A 32-year-old man who fled Rhode Island after allegedly shooting three people inside a Providence strip club has been arrested in Atlanta.

A Providence police spokeswoman said Wednesday that Jonathan Quaweay was arrested after police received a tip that he was hiding in Atlanta.

Quaweay faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon. He was recently featured on “America’s Most Wanted.”

An employee at the Sportsman’s Inn said he argued with Quaweay on March 24 before patrons forced Quaweay out the front door.

Quaweay allegedly returned a short time later and opened fire, wounding a bartender, a dancer and a customer.

It was not clear if Quaweay has a lawyer.

Quaweay is being held in the Fulton County jail. A spokesman for the Rhode Island attorney general said prosecutors would try to bring him back.
