18-wheeler driver charged in ice cream truck crash

Patrick Starpone, the driver of the 18-wheeler that collided with an an ice cream truck on Camp Creek Parkway near East Point late Thursday morning, has been charged with failure to yield, according to Fulton County Police.

The victim, Stephen Linsey, suffered serious injuries after the accident and was life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center. He is in serious condition, according to the hospital spokeswoman. Police said the 18-wheeler was traveling east on Camp Creek Parkway and turned left on a green light but without a left-turn arrow. The truck was then struck by the westbound ice cream truck and also collided with a Fulton County public works vehicle carrying four passengers. No other serious injuries were reported.

The accident stopped traffic in both directions where Welcome All Connector ramps onto Camp Creek Parkway.
