An Atlanta man was sentenced to life plus 10 years Thursday for murdering his ex-lover — the second time he had been found guilty of shooting a former partner.

Romalace Bean, 26, was last seen alive on Feb. 17, 2007. Earlier that day, he told a friend he was ending his relationship with Rodrick Carter, 31, according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office. Eleven days later, Bean’s bullet-riddled body was discovered in his Union City apartment.

After initially denying any involvement, Carter confessed to shooting Bean. He had already pleaded guilty in DeKalb County to shooting a former partner following a romantic squabble, the district attorney’s office said.
