Former Mexican President Vicente Fox told Emory University graduates to discover the leader within them and “reshape the world.”
He told the more than 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students receiving degrees from the Atlanta university Monday to take advantage of their educations to help people from parts of the world where academics are not an option.
Fox was one of four people given an honorary doctorate by Emory during the ceremony.
He was elected Mexico’s president in 2000. After his term ended in 2006, he founded Centro Fox, a presidential library and museum that focuses on humanitarian work.
Before becoming a politician, Fox served as president of Coca-Cola Mexico.
He also served as governor of Guanajuato, a Mexican state.
