Police on Monday said the five people who died in Sunday’s multiple-vehicle accident in south Fulton County included a family of four traveling in one car and a child riding with her mother in another.
Robert Carter, 39, Delisia Carter, 38, their 9-year-old daughter and 2-month-old son were in a Mercedes traveling near the family’s home. The children’s names were still being withheld Monday, Fulton police spokeswoman Det. Melissa Parker said.

The Carters’ Mercedes and a BMW are believed to have collided on Camp Creek Parkway between Butner Road and Old Fairburn Road at about 1:45 p.m. Both vehicles crossed the median, and the BMW fled the scene.
The Mercedes, however, slammed head-on into a Volkswagen driven by Tracy Johnson, 43, of Atlanta, who was in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital on Monday. Her 6-year-old daughter, whose name also was not released, died in the crash.
The Mercedes also hit other vehicles before catching fire, Parker said.
Police want to question the driver of the BMW.
The BMW was described by witnesses as light-colored, possibly champagne, 740 Series, and a 1995-2001 model that would be leaking fluids. Police said the car will have significant undercarriage and driver-side damage and may have been driven by a woman who lives in the area.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call 404-612-5314.
