The Historic Oakland Foundation has appointed five new members to its board of trustees and one new member to its advisory board. They will help oversee the operation and finances of Atlanta’s oldest park, where more than 70,000 bodies are interred.
The new trustees are:
• Shepard Ansley, a financial consultant with the investment firm Carter, Terry & Co. He is on the development committee.
• Cassandra (Sandi) Edmond, a paralegal with Edmond and Jones LLP. She will serve on the development committee.
• Brooks Garden, owner of Fine Gardens, a resident garden design and maintenance firm. Garcia serves on the restoration and landscape committee.
• Lee Smith, managing director of Sterne Agee, and Leach, Inc., a brokerage and investment firm. Smith serves on the finance committee.
• Ken Zeliff, deputy governor of the Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Colonial Wars and the former CEO of Zeliff Wallace and Jackson, an investment-counseling firm. He serves on the development committee.
The new advisory board member is Valerie Jackson, former first lady of Atlanta, whose husband, former Mayor Maynard Jackson, is buried at Oakland. She is the host of “Between the Lines,” a literary public-radio program. Jackson also is a partner in Jackmont Hospitality, a food service and restaurant business.
