Atlanta budget cuts result in new trash schedule

Monday, January 05, 2009

Atlanta officials will begin a new trash collection and recycling schedule today.

Garbage will no longer be collected on Fridays. Homeowners and businesses whose garbage has been collected on Fridays will get pickup another day of the week.

Recycling will be picked up once every two weeks, instead of once a week.

The changes are in response to city budget cuts. For more information, call 404-330-6333 or e-mail publicworks@atlantaga.gov.

• Also: City Councilwoman Anne Fauver is expected during tonight’s City Council meeting to honor workers who assisted in rescue efforts during last month’s accident at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, which killed a construction worker.
