Decision to close for weekend ‘out of respect to the families of the victims’

The Atlanta Botanical Garden will be closed Saturday and Sunday.
Garden spokeswoman Sabina Carr said the decision was made “out of respect to the families of the victims.”
No structural damage was caused in the accident that would prevent the garden from opening, she said. The facility, next to Piedmont Park, did not open Friday due to the accident.
Carr said the garden will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Christmas holiday crowds.
