How Atlanta City Council members
spent their discretionary funds

Atlanta's City Council members have shelled out tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars over the past two years hiring their relatives for city work and handing out flowers, gifts and food to their constituents and others, according to expense reports obtained under Georgia's Open Records Act.

The council members spent nearly $900,000 from their discretionary spending accounts in the two years leading up to Atlanta's budget-busting $140 million deficit.
