A Delta Air Lines employee made an unusual discovery under a soda machine in a break room at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport: a disassembled 20-gauge shotgun.
The employee, Cadet Evans, 39, of Covington, had lost his iPod on Sunday night and was looking behind and underneath the break room’s vending machines, according to an Atlanta police report.
After spotting the weapon, Evans told his supervisor, who notified authorities.
A more thorough search of the break room turned up a container of gun lubricant and “tools for disassembly,” the police report said.
An Atlanta police officer did a background check on the weapon but could not immediately determine who owned it.
John Kennedy, an airport spokesman, said Wednesday that he couldn’t comment on the find, saying it was an ongoing investigation.
